The renewal of the Finnish Book Publishers Association’s statistics system is now reflected in its public reporting service. The project focused on improving the clarity, usability, and accessibility of reports. Earlier phases of the development work concentrated on modernising the data collection interface and improving how easy the system would be to maintain.
The renewal is now available to all users
The statistics system brings together data from the publishing industry, which is published through annual, quarterly, and educational materials statistics, among others. Following improvements to data collection processes and system maintainability, the next step was to redesign how information is presented to users in the reporting service.
“Navigation between reports is now more intuitive, allowing users to find the right information faster and with fewer clicks. We have also improved the readability of graphs and tables, making key insights easier to identify. Overall, the site’s visual appearance and user experience have been unified, creating a more logical and approachable service compared to the previous version.”
Peter Westersund, Front-End Developer
The reporting service renewal focused particularly on helping users find the information they need and making statistical data easier to understand. The work included streamlining navigation between reports, improving the readability of graphs and tables, and creating a more consistent visual design and user experience across the service.
Building on earlier development projects
The reporting service renewal is the latest phase in the ongoing development of the statistics system. The first stage focused on modernizing the data collection interface and improving system maintainability. These improvements are now also reflected in the reporting service itself.
As a result, statistical information is presented more clearly, is easier to access, and can be used more efficiently than before.
